Completely baffled by Shane's post as to how Google ranking (4th) was achieved without all the content, seo, back links, etc I get repeatedly told are essential.
Yes I am a complete newbie with a site (wordpress blog) set up mainly to develop my skills in IM, hopefully eventually to make money. All I read and hear stresses the need to implement the various strategies listed in the above paragraph, so please Shane what is your secret
I would also like to second Frank's posting

Hi Kirsty,

1. Does list building (i.e: email marketing) contribute a lot to the majority of your affiliate marketing revenue, or do you generate most of the revenue from pure SEO and/or PPC?

2. I found your (excellent) step by step affiliate guide here:
http://www.affiliatestuff.co.uk/getting-started-as-an-affiliate/lost-check-out-my-map-to-the-affiliate-maze/

but I was wondering if you can may be update it, and provide more in depth details, and basically outline the whole process of building an affiliate site from total scratch until it earns consistent traffic and money?

You can perhaps put the whole info into an ebook and then sell it, and I think people would buy it. I personally would! =)

It's something I'm planning to do more of as well Shane. I've had the odd surprise off it already, with one of my throw up sites generating £400 a month unexpectedly and getting put further up the development list as a result! Most pleasing for 2 hours work ;)

I have started chucking mini sites up (Just a wordpress installation, standard theme and one 200-300 word article) when I buy a domain, that way by the time I come to develop the domain it has some age (if only a couple of months), its indexed in Google and one site was even ranking 4th for the main keyword!

I don't know if many people would advise doing this, but I have lots of domains parked at Google Domains! This is helping me see which domains are getting traffic; a couple of surprises have popped up there for me.

I've heard this before about having mini sites for all domains...I think it's about time I acted upon this.

Thanks for your great insights Kirsty.
