Hello Boys, I don’t know about this video tutorial lark. I’m a bit nervous in front of the camera, lol

However, the reason I didn’t go into depth about the keyword tracking is that I realised it would be best placed to be a tutorial on its own. It would have made this article a little too long, and is so important it warrants a page all to itself!

Hi Kirsty! Thanks so much for the time you spent answering my email. A couple of the comments are asking how to track the actual success of individual keyword phrases. Other than assigning a special tracking ID to the URL at the affiliate, is there any way to do this? Any recommended software, for instance?

Hi Kirsty, great post as usual. I have a quick question about something you said in point #5. You stated that PPC affiliates should have “a method in place for recording which of [the] PPC search terms are converting to sales.” What are some of the ways affiliates can do this? Do networks offer this kind of keyword tracking?

Oh, and I second the video tutorial motion.

If you don’t mind telling, what would be your top tips/strategies for getting (and MAINTAINING!) “Great” Quality Score for your keywords?

I don’t honestly think it happens. I’ve stopped plenty of campaigns with no ill effects. I think this is a bit of a “boogie man” type myth.

What’s wrong with Google Analytics? Nothing… but I don’t use them so I can’t recommend them!! Like many people I don’t take their “do no evil” motto very seriously and it’ll be a cold day in hell before I let them see exactly what goes on in my sites. Paranoid? Yup!!

As for Google PPC affecting natural rankings… they might be a little evil around the edges, but they’re not as evil as that. I’ve never seen this happen with any of my sites. I did an experiment with a number 1 ranked site, and after 3 months of adwords… it’s still there.

What’s the latest thinking on how Google responds to the natural rankings once PPC has stopped? Whilst unproven, I keep hearing it has a negative effect – true or rubbish?
