Affiliate Marketing? The Greatest Job In The Universe!
Beginners Affiliate Marketing, General, Kirsty's World Trip Add comments
I love affiliate marketing. I eat, sleep, and breathe it. Why? I could go on forever, but here are my main reasons.
Every day I wake up, and it feels a bit like Christmas. I have a funny little feeling of excitement in the pit of my stomach and a great feeling of optimism. The cause? My one true passion in life, affiliate marketing. As soon as I open my eyes, that’s me… I have to get up, grab a quick tea and get straight onto the internet to assess what happened yesterday and plan my day ahead.
The other great thing about affiliate marketing, is that you don’t need to stay in one place to do it. You can take time off whenever you like and generally your earnings don’t suffer from it (within reason!). I’ve been travelling for the last 7 months and running my affiliate business on the road. So far I’ve been to Thailand, New Zealand, and half way round Australia whilst still earning 5 times my salary when I worked for an online marketing agency.
I feel blessed each and every day. Whenever I’m doing something amazing on my trip like swimming on a beautiful reef in Thailand, or sitting on an impossibly beautiful beach, I think about affiliate marketing… because it’s the real vehicle that has brought me to all the wonderful places I’m seeing right now. I do have to work part time on my trip… here’s a picture of me in my mobile office complete with internet connection from a 3G datacard.

Finally, I love affiliate marketing for its wonderful economy of scale. One person can run a business with virtually limitless turnover and profit. Once you have something set up and bringing in an income stream, you can move onto your next project again, and again, and again, and watch the turnover slowly build into something truly special. This is a simplification; but if I really told you guys how I do things, this post would be encyclopaedic in nature!
Affiliate marketing… I love you!!

Nice office! I agree Kristy, it really is the best job anywhere. SShh! Don’t tell too many people though!
By the end of the year, I’d like to be doing it full time and be able to quit my full time job.
Where did you go in Thailand? I spent 3 weeks in Phuket before, and have also been to Bangkok and the surrounding area. It really is a beautiful country!

Thanks for the kind comments. I hope people reading this will realise just what’s possible with the world of Affiliate Marketing.
Brent – I was in Thailand for 8 weeks and went to Koh Samet, Koh Samui, Koh Phagnan (there’s a hilarious story about me and buckets of cheap Thai whisky there – NOT!), Phuket, A weeks dive trip in the Andaman Sea, Coral Island, Krabi, Railey, Koh Phi Phi and finally Chaing Mai for a week at the end!
I have to say the area around Phuket and Krabi was just phemomenally beautiful and the Thai people are really wonderful souls. I will definately be returning there very soon.

Hi Kirsty
Look us up next time your in Thailand. We’re all based in Bangkok, not the prettiest part of the country but plenty of good food. I certainly agree, Krabi is by far one of the most beautiful destinations in Thailand (beach wise)

Hey Chris, I certainly will! We’ll be going back and forth to Australia a lot over the next 3 years. I think we will be in Thailand again in January, so I’ll give you guys a nudge for an affiliate guide to Bangkok. Anything to get out of the Khao San Road would be great.

I always enjoy reading your blog Kirsty.
You’re a bit horrible for leaving us here while you go enjoy the sunshine. It’s been freezing cold and raining for days – in mid-May. Thanks very much!
Seriously, have a super time. When will you come back to the UK?
May 15th, 2007 at 4:47 am
Thanks Nadeem.
Yah, I’m a super-horrible affiliate these days. I do miss the UK sometimes you know. Even with the rain!
I’ll be back in the UK on September 26th, so I’ll maybe see you at the A4UExpo? We wouldn’t miss it.

You’ll be at the a4uexpo? Fabulous!
I just love that picture, though I can’t see how anyone can work with such a beautiful backdrop. (Was having discussion with a business analyst friend who argued the reason northern European countries were more economically successful than the southern European ones was because the lovely weather in Spain, Greece disencouraged people from working.)
I think you should post more pictures of your travels Kirsty – really adds to the blog.

I think your friend may have something there. Suddenly the money isn’t as important anymore when you live outdoors so much. I still want to do well obviously, but I’m not so target-driven out here.
I will endeavor to post a few more travel pictures, I could always start taking pictures of myself and the old laptop in a few exotic locations!

Kristy, Its very inspiring especially for new affiliates like myself. I tend to spend hours in my room and do get bored at times. Just wondering how you could bank in all those commision checks when you are away for 7 months?? Great post and Keep them coming!

I love the post and couldn’t agree more about the possibilities of doing this anywere in the world. I lived in Krabi, Thailand for a year but had to return to the UK 2 years ago, ever since then i’ve been planning my escape back there. Using affiliate marketing and other online money making plans i hope to stay there longer than a year this time – maybe a lifetime
