Whoops, well I’ve been a bit slack at updating the blog here. A fair bit has happened, partly me deciding it was time to do a bit more to leverage the passive income that AM provides and do a bit more on the old leisure front.
So a few things: –
Hitting The Road (Part Time)
We bought a caravan! This is a long held ambition, but it took us a lot longer than we thought to find the right one. We really wanted to spend time travelling Europe, but sadly our need to put our income on more solid ground, as well as the more difficult than expected process of resettling in the UK has put this little jolly off till next year. Not to be deterred though, we popped her on a seasonal pitch so we could use it as a weekend retreat. It’s in the village where Duncs goes diving, and with the kids so young and difficult to herd around the scenery in a car we felt this would give us a bit of “time out”.
Home working is great, however one thing I’ve found is that when it gets to the weekend you are sick of being at home. Having an escape mechanism is very much needed. I have been quite miserable at times going “yayy, weekend – now I get to clean the place I’ve worked all week and shout at my bored children. Go me. Living the dream.”
We will have a travel around the UK in here for maybe 2 or 3 weeks in summer, and also some weekends. Screw you Clarkson!
New Life, New Blog
I do intend to keep updating this blog, it’ll be sporadic but I no longer have the ability to talk in-depth about SEO and do little news bits about the affiliate industry, or give loads of hints and tips. A lot of this is either stuff I’m not currently immersed in because of the relatively limited scope of what I’m up to these days, or it’s stuff I just don’t want to share. Yes, selfish but I’m sure y’all can imagine the amount of issues I had with people ripping off sites etc because of how much I shared in the past. As time goes on I am sure I’ll find the level with this blog, so I’m not going to abandon the Affiliate Stuff ship.
However, I do have a lot to write about in terms of the things that enjoying a passive income allows me to do. At times I wrote about things like that on here. The travel, things like growing pineapples, and other little snippets. However, those things now outweigh the business type stuff quite considerably. So I have been involved in finding a name, getting content going etc. I’ll share it on here once it’s at a point I’m happy with it as I am sure people will find it interesting. Hopefully the two can grow together – I’ve never written another blog before so maybe the experience will feed well into here. I could have put it on here, but I think it’d be a mis-match. I’d rather try to keep these pages on message.
Failure? Me? You must have mis-heard!
Affiliate marketing is always a bit like this, highs and lows. After being mighty pissed off at some stuff dropping off a shelf, the good ship affiliate has righted a little leaving me up 13.5% on same time last year. It’s not as good as 30% like I’d hoped, but I’m going to take it 😉
I now have a very credible non Google income stream – this is something I’ve wanted to achieve for quite some time and it’s all looking Good. I’ve found some pretty good little areas within Bing for a bit of PPC fun. It’s not easy to find the sweet spot – the beautiful marriage of volume and a niche that converts. But when it happens, it’s worth it.
