True, although I am reading through your blog (and keirons) during my breaks/lunch at my full time job and doing actual work on it during the evenings and weekends - you wont catch me writing long posts like that during either of those times :D

I mean this in the nicest possibly way Shane, but you could have written and posted an article in the time it took you to correct my wording!! As those good people at Nike say "Just Do It" or your 20k target will be completely meaningless ;)

Hi Kirsty,

I know this is an old post now, but Im starting at the beginning and reading through most of the articles.

I think part of the post is incorrect:
" – £1000 a month requires an average of £32 profit per day in a 31 day month.

– So over 6 months that equates to you finding or doing something every day that will earn you £5.33 every day on an ongoing basis."

If you want to be earning £1000 a month and have allowed yourself 6 months, you need to do something each day which will earn you £5.33 per month, 17p per day. which is a far more achievable target. That way you will have

186 days, each day adding an extra 17p to your income. Come the end of the 6th month you will be earning £31.62 per day or £980 per month.

My target is to hit £20k per year with 12 months, so im trying to do pretty much the same thing.

I definitely think that you need to have original content on these feed site in order to stay indexed by Google and to rank high in the SERPs. I have found that my data feed sites do well for about 3-4 weeks and then slip off into oblivion.

Kieron - No worries! I'm having the time of my life. Bit sick of living in a chuffing van mind you. Thanks for the Blogroll mention, I'll reciprocate as I've been meaning to add your internet epistle.

Tom - Yes, everyone is different I must say. There's definately a case for planning things through before you leap in. Unfortunately some people (like me at times) have planning down to a fine art and have raised inaction to a Zen-like art!

Hi,

That's a really inspiring post and very true. I think it's an approach you can take in life generally really. I'm sure I remember someone giving me the same kind of 'break it into smaller chunks' advice for my schoolwork :)

Just picking up on your point Ed, in the past i've created a lot of datafeed driven sites and they can work well, even getting pages in Google isn't too difficult, the difficulty really lies in getting those pages ranked anywhere decent, and without a few good backlinks or some content that can be a challenge. I'd also be tempted to say try making a few quality niche sites and target a specific audience :) But goodluck though!

Personally I think procrastination, or atleast thinking things through before jumping in can really add a lot to a project. I have a tendancy to work like mad on things and get really into them, but I think that sometimes you can't see the wood for the tree's as they say. Maybe better to take a more relaxed approach sometimes, less haste more speed. Everyone's different though.

Not a bother Mark. I must confess, that article is as relevant for me as others in part. I can be a terrible procrastinator at times and regularly waste time thinking about things too much!

Hi Kirsty that post struck a chord within me thanks for writing it: especially the "Your success is inside, so pull it out and get on with it!" bit.
