Yahoo are currently offering everyone who signs up for a Yahoo Search Marketing Account a voucher for a £50 account credit. You’ll need a credit card number to sign up I believe.
I thought this might be a great opportunity for all you newbies out there to get some free moolah to try out your ideas. OK, you do have to put down £50, but Yahoo will match it. This will give you £100 to play with, or 2,400 clicks paying 5p per click to try out that idea that’s been burning a hole in your pocket.
Yahoo has improved a great deal recently. They now have similar dynamic ad titling to that offered by Google, and the good news is that their landing page rules are nowhere near as stringent. Could be the ideal time to try out a wordpress based landing page or pages for some of this year’s top Christmas toys!

I’ve not read anything that suggests the voucher can’t be used by anyone. Perhaps you should give it a try and let us know? I’d love to find out!

Hi Kirsty,
Loving the blog!
I’m just venturing into affiliate marketing to get away from my daily 2 hour commute from Manchester to Liverpool and your website really helps us beginners.
Do you think it’s worth newbies to affiliate marketing trying Yahoo marketing, and hence using this code, rather than starting with Adwords? Or is there too little search volume when compared to Google?
Thanks,
Marc

Thanks Marc.
The thing with Yahoo is that their landing page rules are not so strict as Adwords. You also don’t have issues with trademarked terms.
You can get a nice wee income stream using both Yahoo and MSN if you pick the right words, so they are definately worth using. I probably get 20% to 30% of my income from the two smaller PPC engines, so they’re definately worth a go.
On the other hand, Yahoo does not allow direct to merchant PPC which can be awkward. however, 2 or 3 hours with a wordpress blog would get you a perfectly passable landing page, so it’s perhaps not a huge barrier to trying PPC with this voucher.
n short - I think Yahoo can work OK for newbies!

Thanks for your quick response Kirsty!
I’ll try using Yahoo in the next couple of days then and keep you posted.
I’ve already got a Wordpress site up and running for a potential newbie niche, so it should be fine and dandy for some landing page fun!

Hi Kirsty,
Been reading your site for the past few days. Thanks for all the information, i’m still a little scared to go out into the big bad world and use my own money. I’ve just taken the leap though.
Minimum deposit is £60 btw, i’ve just given you some nice little commission i guess
If it helps you write some more of the information you have provided in the past then it’s a small price to pay.
Thanks
Steve
