I always recommend starting a mini-site with 1 particular product to promote while learning the craft of affiliate marketing. Learn the ins and outs first, and then do the mega-site. I'll list out what I did.

1. Picked 5 products with high earnings on my affiliate network, and checked out the competition in search engines.
2. After discovering a low competition rate for number 1, did keyword research using wordtracker and adwords to find 3 large volume keywords and keyword phrases.
3. Designed mini-site (is only 2 pages) using those keyword combinations and integrating the affiliate product and adsense. Also added an auto content feed to keep the site fresh daily with relevant keyword chosen information.
4. Wrote 500 word article on the affiliate product and spun it into 50 different unique articles again based on the keyword combinations and submitted it to high page rank article directories. It was syndicated an average 2.2 times each, getting me over 100 individual keyword anchor text links on title and within the resource box.
5. Submitted to 100 very high page rank web directories using the keywords as anchor text.

Earned and still earning approximately $175.00 a month in commisions from this product and my articles are still in the top 10 in search engines for my main targeted keyword. Total time spent about 2 days, and no money spent.

That's a very encouraging report on your earnings
for what is essentially a mini site.

Targeting keywords that are actually getting
searched for is obviously paying off.

Do You Like A Big One?...

Kirsty recently wrote an article about the effectiveness of different sizes of websites.

Here's my take on whether size matters....
