There is a problem I get with using csv's and that is the images... it appears I have a few merchants who seem to like changing the url of the images - which of course gives me the dreaded red cross :(

How does everyone get around that? Is there a plugin which downloads the images (that would be ideal) - or, well how does everyone cope with that problem?

Just to update you - I got a refund on the 'import csv' plugin as I couldn't get a reliable output.

I tried the 'csv pig' plugin and it worked perfect first time! It is easy to use a quick run through the instruction manual and I had populated my site with the data feed and everything was up and running within about half an hour. Compaired to struggling with the 'import csv' for 2 days - 'csv pig' was a godsend.

I nearly did buy it because it didn't have that good a rating on the Word Press extend site. Glad it got it though!

Thanks for posting your comment Gary!

I bought this on the recommendation of this blog and have found it totally buggy. i have been trying to get a decent reliable output from it for 2 days and have given up wasting any more time on it. Has anyone else had any problems with it? Thinking i will get a refund and try to find something else.
It showed a lot of promise and the couple of test posts that I managed to get out of it were good and nicely formatted, however most of the time there were corruptions in the output and i didn't fancy having to sort out 10,000 plus corrupted posts - so i admit defeat and will move on!

Perhaps this is shameless self-promotion but I've just launched my own WordPress CSV Import plugin - CSVPiG

I've bought a used all of the other tools available and none of those did exactly what I want or a quickly and simply as I wanted to do it. So I built my own!

Anyone know how this compares to CSV 2 POST which seems to be very new and this one very old so there may be advantages and disadvantages.

The developer of CSV 2 POST has some impressive upgrades planned including something to do with blog too blog publishing where you can use one wordpress to publish to many others! Looks like it will be provided as part of the package in a later version at no further cost.

Does CSV Import have anything like that?!

@ blair, I don't really mind paying a bit for a plugin (or for a premium theme) if it is going to be fully supported. As I'm not that technical I value the service / help I get for paying a little for something. Particularly if it has functionality I can't get elsewhere. Hand on heart, I've only ever bought one paid plugin for the last reason I mentioned, it was $30 and worth every single penny!

@ Mark, You'll be able to customise a merchant feed to go in there. Just change the header names. Drop me a line via my contact form if you're confused. Also, Jason is a very responsive sort of guy. I'm sure he'll see you right.

@ Debbie, Why thankyou I always really appreciate it when people pop up just to say "thanks". I hope you enjoy the blog for some time to come!

Kirsty,

I have been meaning to THANK YOU for some time now for this blog and for all of the fantastic information you put on it. It is refreshing to see that there are still people out there that are unselfish and give out wisdom, information and inspriration, without expecting something in return. I look forward to all of your posts. Best wishes to you and your fiancee!

Cheers!
